Parent Guide
New to the program? Start here.
This page is for the parent who has never signed a kid up for tackle football and has a list of questions. All of them are reasonable.
Safety
Football is a contact sport, and we won't pretend otherwise. What we can tell you is how this program handles it:
- Players are fitted for equipment before contact begins.
- Coaches teach tackling technique before they teach anything else, and build up to contact rather than starting there.
- If your child is anxious about the first week of contact, tell a coach. They've seen it many times and they'll work with your kid.
What to bring to every practice
- A full water bottle — August practices in Iowa are hot
- Cleats
- Mouthguard
- Weather-appropriate layers for late-season games
What the club provides
The club maintains its own equipment room. Ask us before you buy anything — what's provided and what families bring can change season to season, and we'd rather answer the question than have you buy gear you didn't need.
Time commitment
Practices run on weeknights during the season, with games on the weekend. Exact days, times, and locations go out to registered families before the season starts.
Cost
Registration fees are set each season and listed on the sign-up site when registration opens. If cost is what's standing between your kid and the field, talk to us — quietly, and before you decide against it.
Photos and privacy
We post team photos and game pictures on this site and on Facebook. If you'd rather your child not appear, tell us and we'll honor it — no explanation needed.
