New to tackle football? What to expect your first season
August 4, 2026
If you're weighing whether your kid is ready for tackle football, you probably have the same handful of questions every first-year parent has. Here are straight answers.
Is my kid going to get hurt?
Football is a contact sport and we're not going to pretend otherwise. What we can tell you is how the program handles it: players are fitted for equipment before contact starts, coaches teach tackling technique before they teach anything else, and practices build up to contact rather than opening with it.
What do I have to buy?
Every family asks this first. Ask us directly before you spend anything — what the club provides and what you bring changes with the season, and we'd rather answer than have you buy a helmet you didn't need. Cleats, a mouthguard, and a water bottle are always on the list.
How much time is this?
Practices run on weeknights through the season, with games on the weekend. Exact days and times go out to families before the season starts.
What if my kid has never played?
Then they'll be in good company. Every season a chunk of the roster is brand new. Coaches expect it, the returning players help, and by the third week you won't be able to tell who was nervous on day one.
Still not sure?
Send us a question — a real person from the club answers. Or join the interest list and we'll let you know the day registration opens.
